Artist's Statement
I work across the areas of fine, applied and conceptual art. I paint landscape from
an abstract viewpoint, seeking to express the elements which make up its special
nature. Other aspects of my work reflect my concern for current issues. Some paintings
comment on the state of farming today and its effect on our lives.
In my conceptual work I reconstruct familiar objects, giving them a shocking new image, hopefully provoking thought where there may have been apathy. For example, cutting up the New Testament is a shocking thought for christians, yet most people probably contemplate Jesus nailed up to a cross with something approaching equanimity. I am currently working on the bible.
